The Excavator Operator will be responsible for operating an excavator in construction sites to support Excavation and Deep Foundations.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Work safely in a construction site and promote a safe work environment adhering to safety policies and procedures including participation in safety meetings.
- Responsible for daily maintenance and safety inspections of their assigned piece of equipment
- Operators are to operate their equipment in a manner as not to cause damage to the equipment or any surrounding structures or impediments and to do so safely to ensure the safety of themselves and others onsite
- Operators are expected to work with the Foreman to perform various tasks including but not limited to, excavations both bulk and/or detailed excavation, utility installations, grading, ditching, sloping, etc. by the project specifications
- Ensure effective communication on progress and any potential issues are brought to the attention of the Foreman/ crew
Qualifications, Experience & Skillset
- Must have a minimum of two years experience as an excavator operator in bulk and detailed excavations.
- Current experience operating 200 - 400 size Excavators
- Understanding of grading plans/stakes and drawings is a benefit
- Must possess a valid Class 5 Drivers License and be able to travel to sites across the region.
- Maintain quality results of work to be done.
- Maintain equipment and promptly report any maintenance issues.
- Good communications ability, able to work as a team with other crew members on the daily activities of the site.
- First aid, confined space, and fall protection training are assets.
- Understanding of Safety and ability to communicate Safety issues as they arise
- Must be physically fit, able to spend most or all shifts working hands-on in an outdoor environment in all types of weather.
- Flexibility with hours worked, including overtime and weekend work as needed.
- Willingness to learn and possibly work across both our divisions (deep excavation and civil site services)
- Must be local to the Lower Mainland

- Cleaning and preparing construction sites.
- Loading and unloading materials and equipment.
- Digging small trenches, compacting earth, and backfilling holes.
- Level earth to fine grade specifications using rake and shovel.
- Assist field staff and provide support when needed.
- Clean and Maintain equipment and promptly report any issues.
- Understanding of Safety and ability to communicate Safety issues as they arise
Qualifications, Experience & Skillset
- Must have a minimum of one year of experience in construction job sites.
- Good communications ability, able to work as a team with other crew members on the daily activities of the site.
- Must be physically fit, able to spend most or all shifts standing, walking, lifting, and carrying, working hands-on in an outdoor environment in all types of weather.
- Flexibility with hours worked, including overtime and weekend work as needed.
- Must be local to the Lower Mainland
